"Nicki features twerking girls in her Anaconda video and people call it “pornographic and inappropriate” but Taylor Swift uses black girl’s asses as props and people see it as ~quirky and cute~ I’m so sick of this earth"

Taylor Swift did it too? Somebody stop these damn white girls…

Woah woah woah, hold the HELL up. WHere have you been? Taylor’s been getting so much hate for her music video and NOBODY GETS THE POINT OF IT!

This is a perfect example of why Tumblr is full of ignorant people who believe anything they see on the internet. Most people are basing their stupid logic of calling Taylor Swift a “racist” because they saw a gif from the video, yet they didn’t actually watch the whole video. Why? Because they’re ignorant.

Taylor said in a livechat prior to releasing the song that the whole point of the video was to put professional dancers of every kind of dance trying to show her their moves, but Taylor ends up failing. She’s making fun of HERSELF. She’s telling people she doesn’t give a fuck about what they think, and that’s also the whole point of the song. Also, there are black people all over the video i.e during the ballet scenes, the cheerleading, they’re singing, and more. There’s even white girls in the twerking scene but everyone is failing to mention that because they are only focusing on one little scene in an almost 4 minute video.  If Taylor had decided not to put twerking in the video, people would throw a fit and call her racist anyway, since now that they can’t call her a slut, why not call her a racist right?

This website claims to be feminists yet they jump at Taylor Swift any second they get. They pick at her flaws and make shit up and the worst? They try to pin her against other successful women in the industry, like Nicki in this case. Both women are successful in their own way and their music is ENTIRELY different. What this website needs is a reality check because 95% of the people here are hypocritical and dumb as hell.

I finally took the time to watch this music video and I think people have the entirely wrong idea about it. Seeing gifs like this also gave me the impression that Taylor Swift was stupid enough to take the cultural appropriation route like Katy Perry. This gif is taken entirely out of context.
The song itself addresses how people make fun of her…

I stay up too late, got nothing in my brainThat’s what people say, that’s what people sayI go on too many dates, but I can’t make them stayAt least that’s what people say, that’s what people say

and she’s just having fun. She’s gone from country to pop and that’s okay.
The video however is what people have the biggest issue with. They think that she’s parading black women around in her video for entertainment. The video in its entirety is a compilation of Taylor having fun trying out several different dance styles and (here’s the kicker) failing.
She’s making fun of herself. She looks stupid doing ballet, break dancing, jazz/contemporary, ribbon dancing, hip-hop, twerking, and cheerleading and she knows it.
Cultural appropriation is still wrong, still prominent, and is still a problem white people love to defend. Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” video (though poorly done) isn’t one of those cases.
As much as I despise Taylor Swift’s music, more white artists who want to incorporate black culture into their work need to take note.
